So I saw Atonement today.

And I have never had such a large range of emotions regarding a movie before.

I saw it with Nadia, and when the movie was finished, we just kind of looked at each other and made these faces. I'm not going to lie, I walked out of that movie saying, "That was horrible. It was horribly depressing and just horrible and it definitely did not deserve that five-star rating."

But... after I proceeded to think about it for the next hour, I gradually came to like it. I think it was all the flashbacks and fast forwards and time changes that threw me. And the fact that I couldn't understand what they were saying half the time. I understood the French better than I understood some of those accents. Cockney may as well be Arabic to me.

The movie was very good, extremely well directed, and the acting was wonderful. And it makes you think, which is great too.

But again, I'm not gonna lie -- Nadia and I walked into the end of Enchanted which was playing a couple of theaters down and watched the end. I needed a happy ending. All that water rushing into the tube station gave me chills that I couldn't get rid of. What an awful death.

The truth though? I didn't really cry that much. I cried harder during Forrest Gump (one of my all-time favorite movies).

And that's all I have to say about that.

I haven't updated this in nearly 7 months. Funny how I used to be so bewildered that people could do that.

This semester was crazy; marching band took over my life. I'm still a French major. I'm going to study abroad next semester and I'm really excited.

I'm really looking forward to Christmas, my favorite time of year.

I've learned a lot about myself in these past few months. I've made a lot of new friends. My boyfriend and I made it to our one-year anniversary on long-distance.

Tell me how you all are doing, please!

amazed.

I need to open a detective business. Or join a search and rescue unit. Or something. Because listen to this: I have been hearing this one spanish song since last summer, because I listen to spanish stations a lot. And I really liked this song -- it was a duet between a man and a woman -- but the station never, ever said their names or the title of the song.

Each time I heard this song I would get really excited because I loved it so much. And then when it finished I would listen carefully (I think I missed a turn or two or almost forgot to stop at a red light while doing this) for the name and/or title but those darn announcers either talked so fast I didn't catch it or they just didn't say it at all.

So since the summer I've loved this song but never knew how to find it so I could buy it.

Just now I was browsing through iTunes Latino for some new songs and I thought "... I really want to find this song. Even though I don't know the artist. Or title. Yeah."

Needle in a haystack.

But!

But, but, but.

I went through the top songs and didn't see anything that *might* look like the title, and I didn't really see any duets either. I do that for maybe 10 or 15 minutes. Then I have the idea to look in the genre section.

Um, yeah, too bad I had no idea what genre it would fall under. On a whim I picked "Baladas y Boleros" because I figured it was more likely that I could find it there than "Reggaeton y Hip-Hop" or "Rock latino."

Omg. I looked under the top hits and found this one couple. I clicked on the link and listened to the song. It wasn't it but I realized: "Oh my god. This is them! Ahhhh!"

So then I went to their albums page and clicked the most recent one. Listened to a few songs then saw the title "Tu Sin Mi Y Yo Sin Ti."

"That... kind of sounds like it," I thought. Clicked on it, and listened. I listened for a few seconds, but it didn't sound familiar.

Then the chorus came.

I nearly jumped out of my chair. THE SONG THAT I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR! FOR A YEAR! Holy crap. I was so excited it was ridiculous.

There. That's my story. I have this song on repeat now. I'll probably get sick of it in a week, but I don't even care. I am amazed.

:)

haha. sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
So I am sitting in my dorm doing some spanish homework while it is pouring rain outside and I decide to listen to some salsa music.

I turn on the radio and all of a sudden I realize that in the middle of one song: "Dude... I must be getting really good at Spanish because I understand everything they're saying!"

And then I realized that the guy was actually singing in French. FRENCH. Who sings French in a Salsa song?

That was a dirty trick.

I actually updated a fanfiction. A fanfiction. I haven't written/updated fanfic in two years. I guess I just really wanted closure. It is by no means a good ending, seeing as I wrote it without any plan whatsoever but... at least this story has a finale now. lol. I'm not sure any of you read this one, it's the Inuyasha/Sango story that I wrote under a different account.

I felt like such a deviant back then, haha. Funny how life changes.

link

Two weeks until Spring Break! :)

My roommate was laughing at me as she was getting dressed to go to the gym.

I also got four parking tickets in the span of a week, because I am loathe to move my car in fear of losing my parking space.
New layout. Pretty.

The weird thing about my floor is that the east side and the west side don't congregate. It's like the water fountain is a barrier or something.

Or maybe it's because the bathrooms are opposite on different sides of the hall.
Had two oral exams today -- one for Spanish and one for French. By a fluke, only an hour apart.

I had about five minutes of panic before spanish because I got to the room and saw my partner Chad with his green scoring sheet... and realized I'd forgotten mine at my dorm.

And Profesora explicitly said she couldn't even grade us without one.

So my heart stopped beating for a few minutes, but Chad gave me his sheet and his copy machine card and I sprinted over to the library to make a copy.

Otherwise, it went fine. We both spoke reasonably well. Only made a few mistakes. Tried to say "earrings" in French, but hey.

Conversely, my french oral was only five minutes long because my professor lost track of time with the person before me (they talked for something like half an hour) and basically asked me about my hertiage, told me I should go to Italy to find my distant cousins, and said to keep studying french.

Works for me.

My dorm really isn't that bad.

It was awesome seeing my friends again. Or the one's I've kept in touch with at least. It's weird, after graduation, seeing who you stay friends with. I'm actually closer to one of my friends who's up in Virginia right now than some who are at the same university as me. Well. That's life.

But yeah. Only 3 weeks until I'm back home for christmas vacation.
To-Do-List (in 2008):

See A Great and Terrible Beauty

See Atlas Shrugged

Both of these are two of my favorite books. I really hope they don't butcher them in film production.

Ahh! That is so exciting. 2008, that'll be my sophomore year? ...Damn, I'll be twenty then? <s>I'm getting old.</s>

happy halloween

Sick.

My lymph nodes are so swollen that it really hurts to swallow. Ugh.

And my contacts decided to act up today too.

So in all, I'm a glasses-wearing, sick mess. And my bangs keep falling in my eyes. Gorgeous. I look appropriately festive for the holiday.

I think I scared the bank people when I tried to make a transaction through whispers. They must've thought I'd taken one to many midterms and lost it... or really got into the halloween spirit.

la vida

Second post of the day when I normally don't update for weeks. Whatever is the world coming to?

I was looking back on past entries that I made from a few years ago; that is always a weird experience. It makes you think about yourself too. For instance, I wrote a lot back then. I wrote every day and my weekly goal was to spin out another chapter as fast as I could.

I think I'd like to get back into that.

What do I do now? Try to study as much as I can. Get everything done. Find time to run?

Boring.

Why is it that as you grow older, your passion for life fades? Because you have so much do you that you can't find time to novel over the incredible world that we live in? Why do most people seem to just... float through life like it's a boring routine? (Because it is?)

I want to travel Europe, Asia, and Africa. And South America. I want to ride in a hot air balloon. I want to publish a novel. Or ten. I want to make so many friends of different cultures that three progressive phone conversations will be in three different languages. I want to draw with my pastels again. I want to take walks for the heck of it.

I don't ever want to forget that.

I need to finish all this school/laundry/bank-related shit so I can get back to living.

go gators

I made the basketball pep band! They only took three piccolos out of the ten or eleven that auditioned, so I'm pretty happy about that.

Dude, I hope we go to away games. I hope we're national champions again this year.
